Aubrey’s Christmas Dinner the Homeless Event
The annual Aubrey’s Christmas Dinner for the Homeless Event addresses one of Hartford’s most pressing social, economic, and cultural needs: homelessness. The event, led by our Vice President, Daisy Feliciano it’s scheduled in the month of December and has been hosted for many years at the Arroyo Recreation Center located at 30 Pope Park Drive, Hartford, CT. This event includes food, positive music entertainment, exhibits from local community agencies and gift bags filled with basic need items for the homeless. Furthermore, some of our State and Public Officials support the event with their presence as well as the local fire department firefighters and explorers. This event offers all homeless individuals currently staying in shelters within the City of Hartford regardless of age, ethnicity, or gender an opportunity to socialize in a warm and safe environment during the holidays, where the homeless individuals are the guest of honor and can eat well and be merry. This event serves up to 125 homeless individuals, including men, women and children all while celebrating life and promoting hope during the holidays. This event equips and motivates homeless individuals with basic need items including deodorant, toothpaste, hats, socks, gently used-to-new coats and winter clothing to be prepared for important meetings such as job interviews, housing, community events, and more. Empower homeless individuals with a message of hope, through positive music and words of encouragement by local community leaders.
